Help:Content guidelines
Encyclopedia Robotica, like all wikis, has a standard model for how pages should look. This page will go over the basics of how a page should look.
Basic Formatting
To start editing, you must know basic wiki syntax first. Below, you'll find all of the formatting you need to learn in order to make proper pages.

Creating a page
To create a new page on the wiki, click on the search bar and type out the name of the page you would like to create. From there, you'll see the page title highlighted in red. If it is not red, this means the page already exists, but if not, the page does not exist. Once you click on the page name, you'll be brought into the editing menu.
Saving pages
Before saving a page, click on the 'Show preview' button to see how your page will look before saving it. Use this opportunity to correct any mistakes and to proofread the page. If you're doing a major edit, create a summary in the 'Summary' box to detail your changes. If the changes are minor, check the 'This is a minor edit' box.
Wiki etiquette
Linking to other sites
When a word or phrase appears that requires a redirect to another site, only hyperlink to the first instance of the word or phrase and ignore any subsequent duplicates.
Categories
Make sure all pages are categorized under the correct categories. For example, a page about the identity Robotkin would be placed under the [[Category:Identities]] category. If a category does exist for a specific page yet, create one like a regular page, but add the 'Category:' at the beginning, followed by the name of the page.
Uploading files
When uploading a file, make sure they are named something that can easily be referenced on other pages. Make sure the description is concise and to link to another site if it was created by someone off the wiki. Make sure to insert all images into proper categories to aid in organization.
Language
When possible, make sure words are spelled in Traditional English (UK) instead of the more common Simplified English (US). For example, color will become colour.
References
When citing your sources, create a header titled ==References== at the very bottom of the page. Underneath that, place the wiki template {{reflist}}.
In order for citations to appear, you'll have to use proper syntax in the area the content appears in. The following string is proper citing syntax:
This is a test citation. Lorem ipsum. <ref>[www.example.com This is a test source]</ref>
